OIL AND GAS LEASING INFORMATION

An oil and gas lease is a contract which may affect your land in ways that you never anticipated.  Before you sign a lease, make sure you understand the terms of the contract.  Having an attorney with leasing experience is beneficial and certainly in the mineral owners best interest.

There are multiple issues to address when entering into an oil and gas lease.  The per acre bonus amount is important, but the royalty could eventually bring much more potential for revenue than the initial signing bonus.  Other provisions, such as a pugh clause, limitations on minerals to be produced, water usage rights, surface access and damages, ability to assign, and even the legal description of the property need to be addressed properly in order to protect the mineral owners' interests.  Many mineral owners never think about the multiple issues affecting their property until after they sign a  lease; a point which is too late.  Understand the terms of your lease or hire an experienced professional who does to explain or negotiate your lease on your behalf.

A lease could affect your property for years to come; before you sign and accept the initial lease offer please discuss the terms of the lease with someone who has experience with the provisions of the lease proposed.  Whether or not you chose Gary Holloway to provide that assistance, you should not sign a contract without understanding each of the terms and without getting the best possible deal.  Gary Holloway has negotiated leases on behalf of mineral owners and on behalf of oil and gas companies, so he understands both sides of the equation and can use that experience to negotiate your lease with terms better than the original offer; usually with higher bonus and royalty amounts.

If you are a mineral owner and are interested in leasing or have been approached by someone interested in leasing your property, please contact Gary Holloway to discuss how this firm may be able to assist you with your mineral interests from explaining the terms of the lease to negotiating the lease on your behalf.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to be able to assist you with leasing your mineral interests at the best terms achievable.
